Happy Mothers Day!

May 9, 2010 3 comments

Isn’t mom the best? I know you are all jealous that I get to spend Mothers Day with her, but I’ll give her hugs and kisses from everyone. I thought I would feature her on our blog on this special day.

Mom and I were driving in the car yesterday and she was asking me if Greg was using his electric tooth brush regularly (she’s concerned about your gums gregs). Somehow this lead to how Greg’s a tall guy, with small body parts (haha). She then went on about his small mouth, small eyes, small lungs…. I stopped her and asked how she knew he had small lungs. When Greg was little and would get scared and gasp for breath, or get the wind knocked out of him, he would pass out. Swimming helped expand his lungs a little, but he excelled in backstroke, where he didn’t have to hold his breath as much. This just got me thinking about how well mom knows us. Mom seriously knows *almost* everything about us, even how big or small our organs are. She’s always thinking about us, and we are so lucky to have such a loving and amazing mom. We are so appreciative of you mom, and we love you SO much!

Happy Mothers Day to the best mom in the world!

bikram? i thought it was vikram!

April 22, 2010 1 comment

I just got back from visiting Greg in NYC. One of the many activities that Greg had planned for us was YOGA. Not knowing greg had this planned I brought my yoga mat anyways because I wanted him to try it out with me. Greg wanted to try out the Bikram studio that was located down the street. I was a little hesitant because i’m a vinyassa fan, but was open to try it out.

The whole process was hilarious. First off, Annie brought to our attention before we were about to leave that she didn’t like to sweat. WELL, bikram is definitely not the activity of choice for a person who hates sweating. As soon as we walked into the studio we were literally gagging from the awful smell. At first I think the people working there hated us because of the disgusted facial expressions we had, but by the end of the class, our instructor was loving us. He was a really nice guy and was very impressed with our mad yoga skills. I think he had pretty low expectations of us considering we were dressed very conservatively compared to the rest of the yogi’s (meaning Greg forgot to wear his speedo, and Annie and i forgot our sport bras).

Moral of the story- we got through the class, and it wasn’t totally embarrassing. We did well, and I was really proud of Greg and Annie. I wish I had brought my camera though. ooh well. next time!
I forgot my nice towel at your place greg, so dont be afraid to get some use out of it! *Once I move into my apartment* we will try it out again!
*Wishfull thinking

Below is the desciption of Bikram and some health benefits that I think are worth knowing.

Bikram Yoga is the most demanding, yet powerful and exciting sort of Hatha Yoga in the world today. It involves 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises in 90 minutes, all performed in a room heated to 105 degrees.

Scientifically and methodically designed by Bikram Choudhury to warm up and stretch every joint, muscle, ligament, tendon, vertebrae and organ of the body down to the cellular level, all this is achieved in a way in which it should be ideally be done. By moving fresh blood and oxygen to all areas of the body, all of the systems of the body are restored. Every cell of your body is revived, reorganized, invigorated and restimulated! As a result you end up getting a healthy body and a healthy mind. The heated environment is initially very challenging, helping to increase will power and mental strength. Heavy sweating helps detoxify the body, and as the blood thins, the circulatory system is cleared. Weight loss is made easier because your muscles are warmed and can burn fat more easily.

You look chic in this photo 🙂

Love you- Ash

PS – does anyone come to this site any more? I think Melis and I have transferred our creative energy to our personal blogs (melissaanneblog.blogspot.com and delightedtobehere.blogspot.com) even though those are only updated sporadically as well.

WTF?

November 28, 2009 Leave a comment

There hasn’t been a post on this site since July?  What is the deal with that?  How are we supposed to build up a reader base if we don’t post anything??

Anyway, I just bought myself a new Macbook, and now that I have a functioning 2 key, I’ll be posting more frequently.  Problem is I’m not getting internet access in my apt until December 5th, so I’m not fully there yet (I’m currently writing this at Annie’s apt).  I also bought Apple TV cause I can use it to play my iTunes song on my TV speakers, which are sick!!

I’m going to have to cut this post off cause I need to go into the office soon (I have a call that starts at 3:30, bahhh!)

Babies are funny!

Just Call Me Two Face

Today I had to get my mouth numb at the dentist so that they could seal 3 of my teeth and I’ve pretty much felt like Two Face from the Batman series ever since. If someone made me smile today only half of my mouth would do it, which was kind of sad and pretty funny at the same time. I tried to get through it without the numbing but I only made it through one and a half teeth before it hurt too much. I like to think that I am still pretty tough for lasting that long though. I bought myself a Starbucks treat after my appointment and it took me 2 hours to drink it because I was very prone to dribbling.

Speaking of treats, have you seen this cute peacoat over at Martin + Osa? It’s currently on sale for $65 and I love it! I’m watching it closely and hoping they reduce the price one more time.

M&O - Cotton Peacoat

I know, it’s weird that I am looking at a coat in June, but it’s felt like Fall here lately and my mind (and mouse) just can’t help it. I’m hoping things start to warm up soon so that I can send you some photos of my garden. I have been working on it whenever possible and think it looks a million times better than last year!

Until next time –
