WTF?

There hasn’t been a post on this site since July?  What is the deal with that?  How are we supposed to build up a reader base if we don’t post anything??

Anyway, I just bought myself a new Macbook, and now that I have a functioning 2 key, I’ll be posting more frequently.  Problem is I’m not getting internet access in my apt until December 5th, so I’m not fully there yet (I’m currently writing this at Annie’s apt).  I also bought Apple TV cause I can use it to play my iTunes song on my TV speakers, which are sick!!

I’m going to have to cut this post off cause I need to go into the office soon (I have a call that starts at 3:30, bahhh!)

Just Call Me Two Face

two-face-batman

Today I had to get my mouth numb at the dentist so that they could seal 3 of my teeth and I’ve pretty much felt like Two Face from the Batman series ever since. If someone made me smile today only half of my mouth would do it, which was kind of sad and pretty funny at the same time. I tried to get through it without the numbing but I only made it through one and a half teeth before it hurt too much. I like to think that I am still pretty tough for lasting that long though. I bought myself a Starbucks treat after my appointment and it took me 2 hours to drink it because I was very prone to dribbling.

Speaking of treats, have you seen this cute peacoat over at Martin + Osa? It’s currently on sale for $65 and I love it! I’m watching it closely and hoping they reduce the price one more time.

M&O - Cotton Peacoat

I know, it’s weird that I am looking at a coat in June, but it’s felt like Fall here lately and my mind (and mouse) just can’t help it. I’m hoping things start to warm up soon so that I can send you some photos of my garden. I have been working on it whenever possible and think it looks a million times better than last year!

Until next time -

College Graduates!

Melissa and Eric – You’re graduating from Michigan State today!! Dan, Charlie and I are sad we can’t be there with you to celebrate, but I know Greg will take a ton of pictures so we can pretend we were there (okay, I know Mom will take a ton of pictures).

Anyway, cheers to the two of you! I’ll see you next week and will come bearing hugs and gifts then. Have a great day today!

Love you,

I Hiked This!

P1020862

So here in Colorado there is kind of a famous trail that Olympic athletes, firemen, policemen and everyday joes and janes hike up and down on a fairly regular basis to test their endurance and strength. It’s called the Manitou Springs Incline and I’m lucky enough to live about 15 minutes from it. It’s about 1 mile in length and incorporates a 2000 foot increase in elevation ending at about 8500 feet. Two Wednesdays ago, I gave it my first try and made it all the way to the top! It was a really challenging cardiovascular workout, and was so much fun! The view above is from the start of the Incline. What looks like the summit, is actually a false summit, that takes a lot of people by surprise each year. Luckily, I’d done my homework up front and knew about it going in. Once you get up to the false summit there is still about 1/4 way to go. It took me a little over an hour to get up to the top the first hike, but I went a little bit quicker this past week when I climbed it again! You have the choice at the top to either take the steps back down to the bottom, or hike down on the Barr Trail. It’s a pretty long hike to go that route, but it’s a bit safer if you have balance issues, are afraid of heights or aren’t very sure footed. I made the mistake of just wearing my cross trainers both times and fell once or twice. The Incline is actually illegal to climb because it’s on private land, but because so many people train on it the law is never enforced. There’s been talk over the last few years about legalizing it, so that necessary improvements can be made, but so far, that hasn’t come to pass.

Anyway, I’m trying to climb this thing on a weekly basis through the fall. My goal is to be able to get up and back down in just over an hour and a half. Right now it takes me just over 2 hours to do it all. I’ll keep you posted.
